Lifeguard Certification

American Red Cross lifeguard courses are offered in the spring months for participants ages 15 years and older.  Students must pass the prerequisite swim skills test in order to participate.  A 2-year lifeguard training and first aid and a 2-year CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certificate will be issued to all participants who successfully complete the written test and water skills.

We currently have no certifications scheduled.  Please check back with us in the future.

Candidates must pass physical prerequisites at the beginning of class (no refunds issued for failing this test or final tests at end of course).

 

Physical prerequisites:

  • 300 yard swim using front crawl or breaststroke
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds, swim 20 yards retrieve 10 lb brick from a depth of 7 - 10 ft. and return to starting point
  • 2 minute tread with no use of arms
  • Minimum age 15 years old
